Health Quest Weekly Update- Week 2

I think I did good last week with my health goals. I didn’t eat quite as well as I should have but still a lot better than if I wasn’t trying! I exercised 5 of the last 7 days and did yoga 6 of the last 7 days… so that’s good right!


For my exercising I’m basically just doing the treadmill and some walks outside. On the treadmill I have been averaging around 30 minutes (sometimes 20, sometimes 40) and between 1 to 2 miles. Considering how out of shape I am… that’s pretty awesome for me!

My right foot is giving me issues though. I have had multiple surgeries because I don’t have any cartilage in the knuckle that connects my big toe to my foot. At one point I was told I would eventually have to have an amputation and that I should not walk but only ride bikes or swim for exercise. I was told to use a cane, like all the time. I did that for a while, then got a second doctor’s opinion who told me basically to do whatever I want to do and we will see what happens in the future. So, I am walking and trying to work myself up to jogging. I don’t use a cane anymore (it’s actually been a couple years). But, I get blisters on that toe a lot and I definitely have to pay attention to how it’s feeling to judge how much I can walk/jog that day. I think as I lose weight it should feel a little better though.


Now for the really depressing part though…

I gained 3 pounds.

Yup… after all my hard work, I am fatter than I was to begin with. I feel better though, so that’s what is important right?

I’ve only just started so I’m going to keep going and pay even more attention to my food journal this week and I’ll check in again next Monday!

  1. Weight tends to fluctuate because of water, don’t let the scale discourage you. You are making a change for the better!

    When I’m tracking my progress I weigh myself 3 times during the day – when I first get up, in the afternoon and before I go to bed. On an average day my weight fluctuates between 2 and 3 pounds! So I take an average of the three! I think it’s great that you’re moving and getting some exercise. I told myself when it gets nice weather outside I would walk more – well the weather is nice but I haven’t walked farther than the mailbox yet! Keep being positive!! πŸ˜€

    The scale only measures the amount of force gravity puts on you to keep you from flying off the planet. It’s not a measure of effort, success, intelligence, kindness or worth. I often tell my clients to not weigh themselves. The scale should not be the goal. The goal should be things like ate x amount of servings of veggies or worked out for x amount of time, or felt good about my effort x amount of days. Focus on how you feel, and don’t let a number interfere with that. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ––πŸ»πŸ’ͺ🏻 You are doing great!

    Don’t get discouraged when I start exercising again I always put on weight, because muscle is heavier than fat! It might sound clichΓ© but it will definitely balance out if you keep going πŸ™‚
