Craft! Magnets!

On this week’s episode of The Crafting Rogue Podcast I talked about an easy, fun craft of making magnets. Here are the written out instructions with pictures!

Here’s the finished product:

For this craft you can use any images you want… comic books, magazines, printed out pictures off the internet… whatever! I used a Game Informer magazine for this example.

(Note- this post includes Amazon Affiliate links if you want to purchase these things off of Amazon… it doesn’t cost you anything extra to use the affiliate link but it helps me be able to keep going with this site!)

Items Needed:

Step 1: Find an image that you want to have as your magnet and which fits inside one of the acrylic shapes. Place the shape on top of the image and carefully trace around it.

Step 2: Cut out the image. I recommend cutting a little bit inside of your traced line to make sure you do not have any part of the image hanging over the acrylic shape.

Step 2.JPG

Step 3: Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the FRONT side of the image you cut out… yes, you are painting it on over the side that you want to be able to see! Mod Podge dries clear… but still try not to use too much or you will have a bit of a mess. Then press the image onto the back of the acrylic shape. You can move it around a little until it dries.

Step 4: Gently push out any air bubbles from the image. This is where it gets messy as you will be pushing glue out the sides as well. You will want to clean off any extra mod podge by just carefully wiping it off.

Step 5: Take your magnet and apply a small amount of the mod podge to one side of the magnet. Then press it onto the back of the image/acrylic shape that you were just working with so it is behind your image.

Wait a little while for everything to dry… and there you go! You have some cool new magnets!
